From Belly Kicks to Wiggles: Welcoming Phoebe’s Hungarian Vizsla Puppies (born in Ireland)
Baby Blue (as we call him) has white tie underneath his chin. Special girl!

There’s a moment every dog owner dreams of — that gentle flutter of tiny paws in a mama’s belly. For us, that moment came a few weeks ago, right here in Ireland, when our sweet Hungarian Vizsla, Phoebe, stretched out on the sofa and let us feel the softest little kicks beneath her warm coat. That’s when everything changed. The countdown began, the excitement grew, and our home started to feel like it was preparing itself for a new chapter.

The First Signs: Little Kicks, Big Emotions Phoebe has always been full of energy, but suddenly she became calmer, more observant, and very attached to us. When we felt that first belly kick, we looked at each other with the same expression: *It’s happening.*

From that moment on, every day carried a little magic. We watched her belly slowly grow, her appetite rise, and her naps become longer. We spent evenings setting up her whelping corner — soft blankets, a cosy heat lamp, and her favourite toy tucked beside it. She knew something was coming too. You could see it in her eyes.

The Big Day Arrives When labour began, the world outside seemed to pause. No Irish rain, no wind, no noise — just Phoebe, breathing steadily, trusting us to be there. And then, one by one, 11 tiny Vizsla puppies made their entrance into the world. 9 girls, 2 boys, healthy and happy, finally arrived. Warm, wriggly, squeaky little miracles. The house filled instantly with life — soft whimpers, tiny stretching paws, gentle nudges as each pup found its way to their mum. There’s no feeling quite like witnessing new life, especially when the mother is a dog who has given you nothing but love from the moment she entered your world.

Life With Puppies… in Ireland If you’ve ever raised pups in Ireland, you know the charm: - rainy mornings spent indoors with the sound of pattering raindrops and puppy snuggles, - sunny breaks where you rush everyone into the garden for fresh air, - warm evenings by the fire as the pups curl up into perfect little cinnamon bundles. Our sunroom has officially transformed into “The Vizsla Nursery.” Blankets everywhere, soft toys, warm towels, and a mama who watches her babies with endless patience. As the puppies grow from wiggles to waddles, we know they’ll soon explore the garden, feel wet grass under their paws, and sniff the Irish breeze for the first time. And we can’t wait for those moments.

What Comes Next Right now, it’s all eating, sleeping, snuggling, and Phoebe being the gentle, loving mother we always knew she’d be. But soon: - eyes will open, - personalities will appear, - the first awkward steps will turn into confident trots, - and our home will be one big playground of rust-coloured joy. We’ll be sharing updates, photos, and behind-the-scenes moments as they grow — because there’s no way we’re keeping this much cuteness to ourselves.

A Final Thought From those first belly kicks to the wiggly pile of puppies we now have, this journey has filled our home with warmth in a way only dogs can. We feel grateful, excited, and honestly a bit overwhelmed — but in the best possible way. Here’s to the adventures ahead with Phoebe and her beautiful Irish-born Vizsla puppies. Stay tuned… the fun is only beginning. 🧡🐾
