A few days ago, we noticed Phoebe started licking her paw excessively. At first, it didn’t seem like anything serious, so we didn’t pay much attention. However, things quickly escalated. Soon, we noticed she was limping, and her paw had become swollen. The constant licking caused redness, and even the skin around her lips started to look red and puffy.
Concerned, we turned to online forums for advice. Many suggested soaking her paw in warm water mixed with Epsom salts to reduce swelling and disinfect the area. We also applied a little hydrogen peroxide to help clean the wound. After a day or two, her paw appeared to be healing, and the redness seemed to fade.
To prevent further irritation, we limited her walks and stopped her from running around—which, if you know Vizslas, is no easy task! They’re full of energy and love to be on the move. Despite our efforts, two days later, while Phoebe wasn’t limping anymore, her paw was still swollen and seemed tender when touched.
Now, we’re keeping a close eye on her. If there’s no significant improvement by Monday, we’ll definitely be taking her to the vet for a thorough check-up. It’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to our pets’ health. Fingers crossed Phoebe’s paw gets better soon!

We decided to take Phoebe to hospital as her paw was not getting any better. Vet advised there was an infection and good we brought her. After receiving injection and antibiotics for week she got better. Collar around her neck helped for her not to touch wound and allow for it to heal. We also received steroid cream for her paw which we found useful and in next infection helped immediately.
Now her paw is excellent for few months and hopefully will stay that way.
